Course Description
Oral Pathology, Special Patient Care
New revelations concerning the oral systemic link continue to emerge, requiring dental professionals to stay abreast of this important information as we become more involved in interdisciplinary, collaborative care. The research is clear that establishing optimal oral health prior to and during pregnancy is of utmost importance for the health of mom and baby, yet many pregnant women are not accessing dental care. This course contains an overview of the research on the oral systemic link in relation to the pregnant patient and delivery outcomes. Oral pathologies experienced by pregnant patients will be presented along with a discussion about the safety of dental procedures during pregnancy. Preventive and treatment strategies to be utilized in patient care are presented, encouraging audience engagement and participation throughout the course.
“The educational teaching methodology used in this course is live, interactive lecture presented via Zoom webinar with an accompanying PowerPoint presentation.
