Course Description

Nutrition

Explore the cutting-edge scientific research revealing the profound effects of nutritious foods and their components on both oral and overall health. This course will bridge the gap between nutrition, oral and systemic health research and practical applications, empowering oral healthcare professionals to promote positive health outcomes. Oral health practitioners will leave this presentation with a comprehensive understanding of the role of a healthy dietary pattern, as well as the ability to incorporate these considerations into conversations to provide a patient-centered approach to oral healthcare.

Course Objectives

At the completion of this course the participants should be able to:

  1. Gain greater insight into the bi-directional interrelationship between nutrition, oral and systemic health and well-being
  2. Discover the pivotal role of diet and dietary components in maintaining oral and systemic health
  3. Discuss how a healthful dietary pattern provides health-promoting components needed to support healthy intraoral tissue
  4. Discuss the current evidence-based research regarding nutrition guidelines that can be integrated into individualized, comprehensive oral healthcare messages
