What is my Renewal Cycle?

DENTISTS (DDS, DMD) - April 1 through March 31 (Odd) numbered years.
DENTAL HYGIENISTS (RDH) - April 1 through March 31 (Odd) numbered years.
ASSISTANTS (RDA, CDA, EFDA) - Licenses expire on March 31 of each odd-numbered year, regardless of the date of issuance

How Much Continuing Education Do I Need?

DENTISTS (DDS, DMD) - A Dentist shall complete 30 hours of continuing education credit hours during the preceding biennial period
DENTAL HYGIENISTS (RDH) - A Dental Hygienist shall complete 20 hours of continuing education credit hours during the preceding biennial period
ASSISTANTS (RDA, CDA, EFDA) - An Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) shall complete 10 hours of continuing education credit hours during the preceding biennial period

What, if Any, Are The Mandatory Subjects?

DENTISTS (DDS, DMD) - 2 hours must be Board-approved continuing education in child abuse recognition and reporting. Licensees authorized to prescribe or dispense opioids are required to complete at least 2 hours in Pain Management. Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required 8 hours on treating and managing patients with Substance abuse disorders.
DENTAL HYGIENISTS (RDH) - "Of those 20 hours, 2 hours must be Board-approved continuing education in child abuse recognition and reporting A public health dental hygiene practitioner shall complete five of the required 20 hours of continuing education in public health-related courses A dental hygienist who holds a local anesthesia permit shall complete 3 of the required 20 hours of continuing education in courses related to the administration of local anesthesia, including pharmacology or other related courses Section 9.1(a)(2) of ABC-MAP generally requires that all prescribers and dispensers complete at least two (2) hours of continuing education in pain management, the identification of addiction or the practices of prescribing or dispensing of opioids (the Opioid CE)."
ASSISTANTS (RDA, CDA, EFDA) - "Of those 10 hours, 2 hours must be Board-approved continuing education in child abuse recognition and reporting. Expanded Function Dental Assistants shall complete 3 of the 10 required hours of continuing education in the area of coronal polishing"

Is There a Limit to The Number of Online Classes

A maximum of 50% of the required credit hours may be taken through individual study
