Course Description

Fixed Prosthodontics

Difficult cases can be simplified when carefully thought out. A strong background of proficiency in crown and bridgework, precision attachments, restorative dentistry and implants allows the practitioner to choose what is best for the patient and is not limited to the one technique a practitioner can do well. This self-study course will present a unique approach to diagnosis and treatment planning that will offer the practitioner more options to help patients—including patients who are not candidates for sophisticated dentistry.   Numerous case examples will be demonstrated from a library of more than 100,000 slides, digital pictures and X-Rays taken during the past 70 years—where all the teeth are prepared and handled the same way and many cases followed for decades with follow-up X-Rays.

The educational teaching methodology used in this course is a self-study lecture presented via pre-recorded webinar in concert with an accompanying PowerPoint presentation. Both the pre-recorded webinar and the PowerPoint presentation incorporate a variety of audio and visual cues to enhance audience members’ understanding and retention of key concepts.

Course Objectives

At the completion of this course the participants should be able to:

  1. Learn a rationale for choosing treatment options
  2. Understand how to manage difficult cases such as excessive wear, periodontal bone loss and malocclusions
  3. Learn why fixed bridgework on natural tooth abutments is often superior to the single-tooth implant
  4. Learn how to restore teeth with little or no clinical crowns
  5. Understand how to handle emergencies with teeth fractured at the gingiva quickly and effectively
  6. Learn when to best utilize fixed restorations, removable restorations, and implant restorations
