What is my Renewal Cycle?

DENTISTS (DDS, DMD) - Each license shall be renewed biennially.
DENTAL HYGIENISTS (RDH) - Renewal period between June 1 and May 31 even-numbered years
ASSISTANTS (RDA, CDA, EFDA) - An active license must be renewed in DELPROS every two years before the expiration date.

How Much Continuing Education Do I Need?

DENTISTS (DDS, DMD) - Active Dentist or Dentist Academic licensees must complete 50 hours of approved Continuing Professional Education (CPE)
DENTAL HYGIENISTS (RDH) - Active Dental Hygienists must complete 24 hours of Continuing Professional Education (CPE)
ASSISTANTS (RDA, CDA, EFDA) - There are no CE Requirements for Dental Assistants in the State of Delaware.

What, if Any, Are The Mandatory Subjects?

DENTISTS (DDS, DMD) - "At least 2 of the required CPE hours must be from a course covering infection control. In addition to the CPE, all licensees must provide evidence that they have successfully completed a current course in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)."
DENTAL HYGIENISTS (RDH) - At least 2 of the required CPE hours must be from a course covering infection control. In addition to the CPE, all licensees must provide evidence that they have successfully completed a current course in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
ASSISTANTS (RDA, CDA, EFDA) - A dental assistant must hold a state certificate as a Dental Radiation Technician or a state certificate recognizing DANB Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) certification from the Delaware Division of Public Health/Office of Radiation Control (Delaware ORC).

Is There a Limit to The Number of Online Classes

For Dentists, a maximum of 30 hours of the total CPE requirement may be satisfied by self-study. Not more than ten (10) hours of the fifty hour biennial CPE requirement may be satisfied by self-study without testing. For RDH, in addition to the maximum of five (5) hours which may be satisfied by self-study without testing, a maximum of ten (10) hours of the total twenty-four (24) hour requirement may be fulfilled by self-study with test
