Course Description

Periodontics

Periodontal Disease Identification & Classification
This course is designed for dental providers and will offer critically appraised, evidence-based information to identify signs and symptoms of periodontal disease and will gain a comprehensive understanding of periodontal classification through a case-based approach.

The course provides chronological information on the dental hygiene assessment phase, equipping participants with the necessary steps to identify, treat, and stabilize periodontitis using non-surgical periodontal therapy. Through diverse case studies, attendees will learn to distinguish between various stages and grades of periodontal disease, supported by rationales based on the latest classification criteria.

Review of Advanced Instrumentation for Non-Surgical Periodontal Therapy (NSPT)
Positive outcomes from NSPT increase when deposit removal is effective. We will look at advanced instrumentation while considering instrument selection, avoiding burnishing deposit, and normal anatomical considerations. Emphasis will be placed on reviewing different types of advanced instruments for safe and effective calculus removal during patient care.

From Research to Practice: Evidence-Based Updates in Non-Surgical Periodontal Therapy (NSPT)
This evidence-based course will provide current information on various procedures and products currently being suggested as adjuncts to NSPT. The research provides a foundation for selecting the most effective treatment adjuncts resulting in the best possible patient care outcomes.

I. Periodontal Disease Identification & Classification

  • Intro to EBDM

IV. Open Discussion

Dr. Sharma’s presentation will utilize a lecture-based format. The course will blend didactic lectures, interactive clinical discussions, photographs, and instructive video demonstrations to illustrate the practical application of critical concepts. Throughout the seminar, participants will delve into the latest guidelines, backed by robust evidence, while exploring a range of procedures, therapeutic approaches, and commonly employed products that are frequently encountered with Non-Surgical Periodontal Therapy
