Course Description

Oral Pathology

This live webinar is designed to provide the participant with an overview of the historical uses of what is described as “alternative and complementary” approaches to treatment for head and neck lesions throughout the years. The course will provide current uses of these more traditional approaches with some cautionary implications of modern medications that may be used with these traditional approaches. Given the cultural diversity within the United States of America, it’s important to recognize that many cultures are bringing their own customs and practices with them. As a practitioner/clinician, having the relevant insights into current research and acceptable uses of these products is paramount.

Course Objectives

At the completion of this course the participants should be able to:

  1. Know the various complementary therapies that have been used by various ethnic, geographical locations throughout the world.
  2. Learn those therapies that are used within the United States as accepted protocol.
  3. Recognize the side-affects to therapies that are available to patients.
  4. Understand the current treatment for mucosal disease and the participant will develop an understanding for the use of corticosteroids and other currently used medications.
  5. Cite some considerations in suggested traditional medicine when used with other therapies.
  6. Delve more fully into the use of TM and current therapy medication use by patients or the combination of these.
  7. Feel confident in discussing the various possible complementary products that may be used by patients.
