Course Description
Pediatric Dentistry
The ability of the dental team to positively guide children through dental appointments leads to successful outcomes for children and a sense of professional fulfillment for the dental team. Behavior guidance is a continual process ranging from basic to advanced techniques that the dental team can utilize to promote a positive outlook toward dental appointments in children. This webinar will focus on the nonpharmacologic, communicative techniques that all members of the dental team can implement to maximize positive dental appointments for children. The current best practice guidelines by the AAPD will be discussed.
The educational teaching methodology used in this course is live, interactive lecture presented via Zoom webinar with an accompanying PowerPoint presentation. Both the live webinar and the PowerPoint presentation incorporate a variety of audio and visual cues to enhance audience members’ understanding and retention of key concepts. In addition, question and answer periods are provided for at the conclusion of each section of the live webinar.
Course Objectives
At the completion of this course the participants should be able to:
- Review child temperament and parenting styles
- Understand foundational concepts of child psychology
- Develop communicative skills and basic behavior guidance techniques
- Review the techniques, indications and contraindications for the basic behavior guidance techniques
- Understand basic behavior guidance techniques that can help children with neurodivergence
