Course Description
Oral Pathology
The commitment to an interdisciplinary approach for care makes dental professionals key stakeholders in maintaining overall health for patients. From heart disease to rheumatoid arthritis, an understanding of the perio-systemic link is vital in the responsibility to assist patients in management of chronic illness. This evidence-based course examines several chronic health conditions, and the role pathogenic oral bacteria play in disease pathophysiology. Oral pathologies that develop from either the condition itself or pharmacologic agents utilized in treatment will be explored, engaging participants in differential diagnoses during case presentations. Hygienists empowered to be active participants in total patient health can differentiate a practice and build confidence and appreciation among patients.
“The educational teaching methodology used in this course is live, interactive lecture presented via Zoom webinar with an accompanying PowerPoint presentation. Both the live webinar and the PowerPoint presentation incorporate a variety of audio and visual cues to enhance audience members’ understanding and retention of key concepts. In addition, question and answer periods are provided for at the conclusion of each section of the live webinar.”
