Course Description

Breathing Disorders, Oral Medicine, Sleep Apnea, Sleep Disorders

Dentists are playing an increasing role in screening patients for sleep-related breathing disorders and referring them for further testing to obtain diagnosis. Understanding the different technologies that are available to use in the dentist’s office to screen, as well as those that are used by medical sleep doctors to diagnose sleep-related breathing disorders is important to be able to communicate with patients as dentists implement screening programs. The FDA is expanding the ability of medical professionals to identify sleep parameters outside the sleep lab. In accordance with the ADA’s policy on Sleep, every dentist should be regularly screening patients for sleep-related breathing disorders. Understanding the technology presented in this workshop is a great way to get started.

“The educational teaching methodology used in this course is live, interactive lecture presented via Zoom webinar with an accompanying PowerPoint presentation. Both the live webinar and the PowerPoint presentation incorporate a variety of audio and visual cues to enhance audience members’ understanding and retention of key concepts.
