Course Description

Periodontics

This course will delve into the diagnostic classifications of periodontal disease and the history behind the different classification systems on how to educate the dentist or allied health professional. Further, we will focus on how to determine prognosis, treat accordingly to that determination and what treatment modalities in the current sphere of periodontal therapy exist in order to treat the early, moderate and severe periodontal patient.

The educational teaching methodology used in this course is a lecture presented via live webinar in concert with an accompanying PowerPoint presentation. Both the live lecture and the PowerPoint presentation incorporate a variety of audio and visual cues to enhance audience members’ understanding and retention of key concepts. In addition, audience participation will be encouraged and facilitated by group discussions as well as question and answer periods provided for at the conclusion of each section of the live webinar.

Course Objectives

At the completion of this course the participants should be able to:

  1. Understand the new classification and use it!
  2. Treatment planning Periodontal therapy for the General Dentist should be easy
  3. Understand the origin of periodontitis and periodontal inflammation as it relates to systemic health
  4. Developing a knowledge base of systemic health as it relates to Periodontitis
